The GCP, reimagined for the web.

The Excel-based Generic Curriculum Passport has been a solid foundation for tracking generic competencies. GCPassport takes the same framework and adds direct evidence linking, live educator access, and the accessibility of a purpose-built web platform — available on any device, at any time.

📎
Evidence built directly into the passport
The Excel GCP records what's been achieved — GCPassport goes further, letting you upload and link the supporting files directly against each outcome. Evidence and entry, always together.
📱
Accessible from any device, any time
Supervisors can review a trainee's complete passport and evidence in the browser, on any device — on a phone during a supervision session, or a desktop before ARCP. No downloads or specialist software required.
📡
Live progress, always current
TPDs and AES supervisors see each trainee's current RAG status whenever they need it — updated automatically as trainees upload and tag evidence, without a manual check-in.

See every trainee's progress, whenever you need it.

A dedicated educator portal gives AES supervisors, TPDs, External Assessors, and Associate Deans a clear, accessible view of trainee progress — from any device, updated live as trainees work on their portfolios.

AES supervisors can write comments against each domain — guidance that sits permanently in the trainee's portfolio alongside the evidence. Previous AES comments are preserved read-only.
📄
Export a trainee's ARCP summary PDF
Generate a formatted progress summary PDF for any trainee directly from the educator portal.

Three colours. Instant clarity.

Every GDC outcome in your passport has a RAG status. Update it as your training progresses. No partial states, no ambiguity — just a clear picture of where you are.

Red — Not Yet Met
All outcomes start here. You haven't yet evidenced this competency, or haven't begun working towards it.
Amber — In Progress
You've begun evidencing this outcome and are actively working towards it. Some evidence is attached but it isn't complete yet.
Green — Achieved

Frequently asked questions.

GCPassport is designed for UK dental specialty trainees — Specialist Registrars (Str). It's also built for their educational supervisors: AES, TPD, External Assessors, and Associate Deans, who each have a dedicated read-only educator portal.
GCPassport extends the Excel-based GCP into a full digital portfolio. It tracks the same four GDC domains and all 18 generic outcomes, and adds direct evidence linking, a built-in file viewer, live educator access, and mobile accessibility. You can run both in parallel during transition, or switch fully when you're ready.
You can upload PDFs, JPG and PNG images, Word documents (.docx), Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx), and PowerPoint files (.pptx). Each file can be up to 4 MB. Images and PDFs are viewable directly in the browser — other formats download with one click. Files are stored securely on Cloudflare's infrastructure.
Yes. GCPassport fully supports LTFT trainees. Training years are date-based rather than assumed to be 12 months — so a trainee working at 0.6 WTE with a 20-month training year can enter their actual dates and everything works correctly. Evidence is sorted to the right year automatically based on the date you enter.
Yes — that's one of the core benefits. Once you link your AES from Settings, they gain immediate read-only access to your passport through the educator portal. TPDs and External Assessors automatically have access to all trainees in their specialty and deanery. You don't need to send emails, attachments, or shared drives.
Yes. Evidence files are stored on Cloudflare R2 — a secure, geographically distributed storage service. Files are never publicly accessible; every download uses a short-lived secure URL generated at the point of access. Your data is yours, and you can download a complete export at any time from Settings.
